Getting a Library Card
A library card is free. If you are a resident of Carroll or Madison counties; a non-resident living in Benton, Washington, Crawford, Franklin, Johnson, Newton, or Boone counties, or Barry or Stone counties in Missouri; non-resident property owner; or, temporary resident working in the area, you are eligible for a free card.

You may register at your local library. Please bring the following identification with you:
  • For residents and non-residents living in neighboring counties – proof of current address which may be a current driver’s license, a utility bill, printed check, printed identification (medical card, company ID), tax receipt.
  • For non-residents property owners – proof of property ownership such as mortgage papers, tax statement, tax collector receipt as well as proof of current address.
  • For temporary residents working in the area – proof of current address and complete employer information.

Children and teenagers under the age of 18 need a parent or guardian to fill out the application with the child or student, present verification of current address, and sign the application.

Library card is issued the same day as application is received.

Limits on the number of items checked out on the first day of library card use may be set in individual libraries.

Lost Cards Patrons are asked to contact the library immediately if the library card is lost or stolen. The patron is responsible for materials checked out on his/her card until the loss has been reported. Replacement cost of a lost card is $1.00.

Change of Address Cardholders are asked to inform the library of any changes (name, address, phone, email address) to the application in a timely manner.
